“Imagine what our neighborhoods would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person.” ~ Mr. Rogers

Ed and I moved from Burbank to San Diego five years ago. Whenever we would take a walk in the neighborhood, I would always wave or say hello to the people we passed. Ed would ask me why I was waving hello if I didn’t know who they were. I explained that maybe they’re our neighbors. Five years later now guess who is saying hi to the folks we pass on our walks? That’s right…Ed! That’s how ripples of kindness start!

Whether it’s someone in your family, a friend, or someone working in our neighborhood, I have to agree with Mr. Rogers. Just one kind word makes a difference!

Join Challenge #14: You Make a Difference! I think the easiest way to show kindness to our neighbors is to SMILE and/or say hello! Another way you can show kindness to your neighbors is to take in or out their trash bin, bring over a home-cooked meal, plan a neighborhood potluck, or offer to walk their dog.

Share your experience for this challenge below, on Facebook, or send me an email. (Extra chance for your name in the drawing for telling us how it made you feel and/or posting a picture)! As you share your experiences, it may inspire someone else to be kind. Either way, I will draw a name from all social media and email responses and gift a container of peppermint beadlets. When we feel better and have more energy, we are more apt to be kind to others. Join me as we start ripples around the country…maybe even the world!

Congratulations to Challenge #13 winner, Krista M. She donated a pack of white socks to someone in need! Krista wins Two-Pack Brownies from Send Out Cards.

  1. Shout out to Rocio, who we met at The Goods Carlsbad this morning! She brought her “sunshiney” personality into the bakery. Rocio was the perfect example of kindness in the neighborhood – smiling and talking to all! Kindness is contagious!

  2. Congratulations to Challenge #14 winner, Bibi N.! She and her husband help care for their 82 year old neighbor. They make sure she has her favorite home made desserts and Bibi’s husband helps with any heavy items she needs moved. Now that’s making a difference! Bibi wins a container of dóTERRA Peppermint Beadlets.
